ADAPTOGEN

The dictionary definition of an adaptogen is "a nontoxic substance and especially a plant extract that is held to increase the body's ability to resist the damaging effects of stress, whether physical or psychological and promote or restore normal physiological functioning." Adaptogens assist the body to, er, well - adapt. They help the body restore its equilibrium, to achieve a state of balance, if the system has been compromised physically (e.g. illness or injury, environmental conditions, toxins, extreme physical endeavour) and/or psychologically (travel, relocation, separation etc). Adaptogens are an incredibly useful aid in addressing chronic disorders and conditions.
